Terms of service

These terms govern your use of Trivia Night, a Canadian weekly trivia pack and host software service operated by 2809826 Alberta Inc. ("we", "us"). Trivia Night is an openstats.ca product. By creating an account, subscribing, or using the service, you agree to these terms.

Who may subscribe

Subscriptions are offered to businesses and organizations hosting in-person trivia nights in Canada. You must be able to enter a binding contract in your province or territory.

Home-edition packs are available for the provinces and territories we list on the Editions page. Quebec editions are not offered; we do not market or sell Quebec home rounds through this service.

Your account and venue

Each paid subscription is tied to one home edition (province or territory) and, for Venue tier and above, one primary venue seat unless your plan includes additional seats.

You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping login credentials secure.

Venue names, prize wording, and promotional copy you enter must comply with local law. Our promo templates are alcohol-neutral; you choose whether and how to mention drinks or prizes.

Weekly packs and licence

During an active subscription you may download and use the weekly pack for your subscribed edition at the venue(s) covered by your plan. Packs include host materials, slides, answer sheets, and scoring tools as described on the site.

Downloads are watermarked with your account identifier. You may not resell, redistribute, or publicly republish question text, slides, or answer keys outside your hosted events.

Question wording and selection remain our copyright. Factual answers are not proprietary; competitor wording must not be copied into your own materials.

The service does not include raffle, 50/50, lottery, or other chance-based entry products.

Billing and cancellation

Fees are in Canadian dollars. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel in the Stripe Customer Portal (linked from your billing page). No phone call is required to cancel.

Venue tier is $49 per month or $490 per year (annual billing equals ten monthly payments). Other tiers are shown on the Pricing page.

Live events and player phones

Optional browser-based hosting, display, and player join flows are provided as-is. You are responsible for Wi‑Fi, devices, and room management at your venue.

If you play recorded music at events, you remain responsible for SOCAN, Re:Sound, and other public-performance licences. This product does not supply music files or performance rights.

Acceptable use

Do not abuse the service, attempt to bypass download limits, scrape content at scale, or use the product to harass participants.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or that create legal or security risk.

Disclaimer and liability

Trivia content is compiled for general entertainment. We correct errors when identified but do not guarantee every answer suits every audience or regulatory context.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, our total liability for claims relating to the service in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees you paid us in that period. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.

Changes and governing law

We may update these terms by posting a revised version on this site with a new effective date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.

These terms are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Alberta have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to mandatory consumer protections in your province of residence.
